If you create Thermal Risk Assessments in the web version of Kite using the Thermal Risk Dashboard, you can use the mobile app to view them and calculate your risk.
Here’s an example of a Thermal Risk Assessment made in the web version of Kite:
You can see it in your Kite mobile app by selecting the Thermal Risk dashboard. This will show you all the Thermal Risk Assessments saved for your site.
Creating a New Assessment
To create a new assessment, first select the + button in the top right corner of the page. You’ll be taken to the New Assessment page shown below. Fill out the fields and select Continue.
You’ll now be shown a preview of your Thermal Risk Assessment:
Select the Risk levels info button to read more about the different risk levels.
You can also tap and hold specific bars in the graph to see their detailed information.
If you would like to change anything, select the Back to edit button at the bottom of the page. If you want to save your assessment as it is, enter a name and select Save Assessment.
Viewing Assessments
If you select one of your created thermal risk assessments, you will see the following information:
Risk Assessment Details
All of the Thermal Risk Assessment’s details will be displayed at the top of the page. This includes:
-
Creation details such as its name, time created, creator, base risk score, and site
-
All details about the associated group of workers which could cause heat-induced illness (environmental factors, work factors, distance & access, PPE, and worker state)
The Base Risk Score is used to calculate workers' risk levels throughout the year (shown in the graph further down) and under specified conditions (using the Calculator at the bottom of the page).
Annual Risk Forecast
Using the assessment’s Base Risk Score, the likelihood of each risk level throughout the year is calculated, based on 45 years of past data. This is presented in a graph as shown below.
This data can be used to identify the worker groups that are at risk of illness and who may require additional heat management controls during high risk times of the year.
Risk Calculator
The Thermal Risk Calculator allows you to calculate a worker’s current thermal risk, by providing either the current apparent temperature OR temperature and humidity.
For example, if I select this site’s Outdoor workers risk assessment, then enter the current apparent temperature of 30°C, the calculator predicts the risk level for these outdoor workers will be Moderate. This means there is a potential of heat-induced illness, so awareness should be heightened.
