How can I add my weather station?

For Premium and above subscribers you have the option to send us your weather station data.

You need to contact us and let us know if you have a weather station you'd like to add. The weather station should be of good quality and representative of the local environment (see further information here).

You will need to tell us the type of weather station you have and your weather station data provider. We will talk directly to your provider to get your data set up.

What are the benefits?

Once we have your weather station data coming into Kite you will be able to do the following:

  • See your site data coming in hourly to the Dashboard (HLI, all AHLU levels, BGT, temperature, wind speed, humidity and rainfall (if recorded by weather station))

  • The AHLU will be updated in near real-time as the observations come in. This results in a more accurate AHLU (a critical measure for determining the heat risk of our animals)

  • See a summary of yesterday's observations on your morning toolbox report

  • See the Latest Observations card on the dashboard (showing your current HLI, all AHLU levels and wind speed)

  • Set alerts

How long does it take?

Once you contact us we will aim to get back to you within a few days. If your weather station is with one of our existing suppliers the process can be very quick and we can have your data displayed within a day or two. However, if it is a new format we will need to do some programming and work with your supplier to ensure the data feed is correct. This may take longer.
