Black Globe Temperature (BGT)

Black Globe Temperature (BGT) is measured by a thermometer placed at the centre of a blackened sphere made of thin copper. It is the temperature of a body due to incident solar radiation (and other reflected radiation), the effects of air temperature and wind speed. BGT sensors are extremely sensitive to their local surroundings. Mounting a sensor close to a metal object can result in higher BGTs.
